A big shout of thanks to all who were able to attend our book drive on 28 February. Generous book lovers took away armfuls of great reading, raising $320 in donations for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Capping off the day, in the shady al fresco area of our generous hosts The Gatehouse Ballarat, was an hour of readings and poetry. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
We hope to participate in the ILF’s Great Book Swap in September, so keep your spare books handy!
There are plans afoot for further pop-up Words Out Loud events, so please stay tuned.
Words Out Loud is supporting the Great Book Swap this year, to benefit the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
UPDATE: Plans to join the ILF Great Book Swap have been derailed due to COVID-19, so let’s see what next year brings! Thanks for your interest, and, of course, you don’t need our help to throw a few dollars to the Indigenous Literacy Fund if you can.
Our event on 17 September — in whatever form it takes under the COVID-19 cloud — will raise donations, but there’s no need to wait till then if you’d like to support this cause.
