July audio — a shot in the dark

We were very pleased to welcome several new faces to the stage at July’s packed edition, and once again many performers targeted the theme for the evening, in this case ‘a shot in the dark’. This was also one of the opening events for the Melbourne Spoken Word and Poetry Festival, which runs until July 28.

June audio — cold comfort

June’s edition was very well attended, in defiance of a chill Ballarat winter’s night, and we were stoked at how many performers worked with the theme of ‘cold comfort’.

May audio — ticking the boxes

May’s edition fell only two days before the federal election, but we were glad to see a broad approach to the theme of ‘ticking the boxes’ from those who chose to accept the challenge. The night also featured a poetic tribute to Les Murray, who died on April 29 after a stellar career.

The confluence of World Poetry Day, the autumn equinox and Harmony Day inspired March’s theme of “all things in balance”, and what a big night it was. Here is a smorgasbord of the night’s offerings — seventeen morsels of flash fiction, poetry, memoir, and extracts, each up to five minutes. Tasty!
