September recordings are on the wing

We were gratified with the huge turnout for September’s edition, with almost 20 performers taking the stage. A few new faces as well, which is always a pleasure to see. The theme was “taking flight”, but there were a few who decided, coincidentally, “taking blood” was also good! Listen to a selection on our audio page.

August recordings come with a touch of India

We were very pleased to welcome Amit Dahiyabadshah, visiting from New Delhi, as a guest poet in August.

Sample the eleven offerings of flash fiction, poetry and memoir, most under five minutes, and also watch a video capturing much of Amit’s performance.

We’ll be “taking flight” in September. Feel free to join us for an uplifting night of spoken word (and a tasty dinner, too, for the peckish).

Tune in to June recordings

Audio recordings of a selection of our performances are now available for your listening pleasure. The edition on June 21 — the winter solstice — was huge, with nineteen performers taking the stage before a packed house. Sample the twelve offerings of flash fiction, poetry and memoir, most under five minutes. (We cut first-timers some slack in June.)

The July event will be rather festive with a “Christmas comes early” theme — click here for details!

We have audio

Earl Livings at April's Words Out Loud

Visiting Melbourne poet Earl Livings at April’s Words Out Loud.

Recordings of a selection of performances from our March and April events are now available for your listening pleasure!

This is something we’re doing this year for the first time, to add another string to the bow of those fronting the mic each month. We’re absolutely thrilled with the way the event has grown over the past two and a bit years, and we hope this adds more value for our loyal and enthusiastic supporters.

Performers, if you would like a copy of your audio, just let us know and we can email it to you. If you’ve changed your mind about having it online, let us know and we can take it down.

You can listen to the March playlist here and the April playlist here. Additions will be posted under the Audio tab as the editions roll out.

The mic will be hooked up again for our May edition on the 17th, with a simpler permission slip to allow the recording to go online. Words Out Loud is even more out loud than usual!
