What a great turnout at the March edition on Thursday night! Fifteen performers and a pleasantly full room, and a wonderfully varied mix of subject matter (as always)! The theme of “shine a light” proved popular, as did a secondary vein of tree imagery 🙂

RECORDING: We also recorded the session, so in coming days we’ll be looking at uploading some snippets here for those who would like to hear more, as well as making the recordings available to the artists for their own use.

BOOKLET: Craig Coulson is putting together a collection of prose, poems and yarns presented to theme at Words Out Loud to date. Craig says it’s free to enter but there won’t be payment, with the booklets to be made available for sale at a modest price. PETER TEMPLE: Thanks to Frank Carrucan (on his debut at WOL!) for making sure the recent passing of Ballarat-based writer and Miles Franklin winner Peter Temple did not go unremarked. Peter, the creator of the Jack Irish books (made into a TV series starring Guy Pearce), was much acclaimed. Read more about his amazing career here.
